Our patrons

Head of School of Mathematical, Computational and Physical Sciences and Professor of Meteorology at the University of Reading. He leads the Climate Ambassadors programme and was awarded an OBE in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours for contributions to Climate Science and Education.

Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez OBE

Adam joined the SUEZ UK Management Board in 2017 after a 30-year career across academia, local government and environmental consultancy. He leads engagement with government on policy reform, working with trade bodies, think tanks and academics. His PhD examined UK waste policy, and he received an MBE in 2024 for services to the resources sector.

Dr Adam Read MBE

Jenn is a proud mum, practising artist-printmaker and committed environmentalist, and leads Northern Star Academies Trust, a 15-school partnership serving 7,000 children across North and West Yorkshire. With over 30 years in secondary education, her career spans six local authorities, including headship, a decade leading a SCITT and a Teaching School Alliance. She champions collaboration, continuous improvement and children’s voices, with sustainability and climate change education central to the Trust’s work.

Jenn Plews OBE

Mary is an education writer and speaker. She trained as an RE teacher and is a former local authority adviser and inspector. She engages with pupils, teachers and leaders about learning, leadership and the curriculum. Mary has written extensively about leadership, school improvement and the curriculum: Her current work focuses on the impact of the ‘Just reading’ research from the University of Sussex on reading outcomes in secondary and primary.

  • Dr Geoff Mackey

    Dr Geoff Mackey

    Paul Edmond is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in financial and operational leadership within the charity and education sectors. Prior to joining HEART Academies Trust in 2017, Paul worked with prominent UK and international charities, including Coram, Plan International, and Wellcome Trust.

  • Heena Dave

    Heena is an ESRC-funded doctoral researcher at the University of Stirling and Co-Founder and Trustee of Climate Adapted Pathways for Education. Her background spans classroom practice, designing school leadership professional development, and programme and partnership roles across the charity sector, and the Environment Agency. Her research includes academic journal publications and co-authored books and reports on science and climate change education.

  • Jonathan Rice

    Jonathan Rice

    Jonathan is Executive Headteacher of four primary schools on the East Norfolk coast and a trustee of CAPE, where he advocates for climate-literate learning in schools. He is also co-host of The Two Heads Podcast and a founder member of Loos 4 Learners, a charity supporting the development of essential sanitation in schools in Ghana.

  • Professor Leigh Hoath

    Leigh is Professor of Science Education at Leeds Trinity University and a former classroom teacher. She previously chaired the Association for Science Education and now edits Primary Science. Leigh co-founded the charity Climate Adapted Pathways for Education and is editor of Practice: Contemporary Issues in Education.

  • Tim Culpin

    Tim Culpin

    After a 30-year career as a teacher, headteacher and Director of Education across local authority and academy systems, Tim retired from full-time education leadership roles. He previously worked part time as Sustainability Lead for REAch2 Academy Trust and completed the was part of the first cohort of the Climate Wise Schools programme. In 2025, REAch2 Academy Trust received a National Sustainability Award. He is currently a trustee at CAPE.
